Research Focus
This research will examine Italian ecopoets that address environmental issues. Translations of their work into English will be produced. I will also dedicate a section to local Florida poets, taking into account recent local perspectives and oral history. By examining and making ecopoetry accessible to more people through translation, we can elicit new transcultural and transdisciplinary perspectives. This project strives to introduce the poetry of Italian poets not yet known to an English-speaking audience, to deepen their poetics and put them in transcultural dialogue with a reality that is equally peninsular and at risk, like that of Florida.
Project Responsibilities
I will conduct research on scientific and literary sources related to environmental issues affecting the Florida and Italian peninsulas.
I will produce translations of ecopoems from English to Italian and vice versa, ensuring that the environmental and cultural nuances are preserved in both languages. I will write an article that analyzes and reflects on the research findings and translations produced. This article will be submitted in response to the recent call for papers by the University of Florida's Delos: A Journal of Translation and World Literature on the theme of Environmental Humanities.
